I thought I'd write this because I wanted to get my thoughts down as to why I am voting yes and I won't be persuaded otherwise.
For me, rhis impending same sex marriage survey is asking me to decide on whether homosexuals should have the same right as heterosexuals to happiness and fuifilment in life from a committed relationship where a person pledges their love forever to somebody, they say wedding day is meant to be the happiest day of any couple's life? I can't deny somebody that just because they are LGBTIQ, it's not right or even remotely fair to deny a person a chance to be happy, I just don't see how in any way I have the right to deny a group of people the right to be happy because of their sexual orientation.
Voting 'no' and possibly denying somebody the right to happiness based on their sexual orientation would make me a coward, bully and a hypocrite, all I ever want from life is to be happy, how can I justify the want to be happy when playing a part in denying somebody else's happiness is just something that doesn't sit right with me.
This is not a survey on religious freedom, freedom of speech or any other stuff you have heard spouted by various people who have been quite prolific in the media in recent times, this is a survey on allowing two people who are of the same gender and are in love the right to marry and be happy just like Adam and Eve or Mark and Claire are and I am not about to pick up a pen and deny Susan and Jenny or Thomas and Nathan that right to be happy and show their love and commitment to each other because quite simply it is not and never has been my right to deny happiness.
