How to avoid the chuggers/cadgers

There is nothing worse when you have things to do and places to be on a busy work day to be accosted by some person saying in an overtly chirping voice and sounding slightly brainwashed "Hi I'm Anita, do you know what some group are doing to the elephants in Asia?" and if you answer no, they rattle off into a very long explanation of what they claim is happening (sometimes inaccurate) to these elephants and usually they do it in such a way to guilt trip YOU into giving them money (which I think goes toward administration costs more so than any cause they've guilt tripped you about)

So here's my guide into avoiding chuggers/cadgers:

  • Pretend to be on your phone arranging an appointment or holding a rather tense phone conversation about work. (I pretended recently to be talking to somebody about getting my boyfriend a penis enlargement appointment)
  • Music is handy. Look as though you are away with the music. They will not bug you if you have earphones in and you are listening to music.
  • If they are one side of the street. Walk the other side. I realize this piece of advice is no use if your business is on the same side of the street as the chuggers/cadgers.
  • Avoid making eye contact with them. That gives them the sign that you are keen and eager to talk turkey with them.
  • Constantly check your watch or phone and look extremely annoyed and impatient.

It's P.E.T.A who need a name change not Hunters & Collectors

So its been kind of inavoidable today that the People from the Ethical Treatment of Animals have asked legendary Australian band Hunters & Collectors to change their name because they want to raise awareness of duck hunting because its evil etc and to PETA, they find the word "Hunters" or "Hunter" a bit intolerable in fact I figure they are allergic to the word.

God help them if they come to the HUNTER Valley.

Jokes aside, asking a band to change their name for a cause is political correctness gone mad, only going to incite ridicule from a public fed up with political correctness and I would hope Mark Seymour isn't even giving P.E.T.A's suggestion one iota of thought.

It also smells like a desperate bid by this activist group to stay relevant when other organisations are doing more in their actions to protect animals like RSPCA rather than staging desperate word campaigns that will more than likely turn the public against them and their cause like People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

So after I heard about this I decided to drill and investigate if P.E.T.A are really for the ethical treatment of animals which is when I came across an article from the Huffington Post in 2013 entitled PETA's Secret Slaughter of kittens, puppies by Nathan J, Winograd (be warned, there are some graphic images in the piece), the disturbing and shocking story details how this supposedly ethical treatment of animals organisation has gone about the murder of perfectly healthy and ready for adoption puppies and kittens and how at the PETA shelter in Virginia, very few of these animals are adopted out per year and most end up murdered, placed in garbage bags and either placed in P.E.T.A's massive walk in freezer dumped in shopping centre garbage bins

It was then I found out the horrifying figures of the amount of dogs and cats 'euthanised' by PETA since 1998 and discovered that according to stats by the Virgina Department of Agriculture and Consumer services, 34,970 animals were murdered by P.E,T.A.

If ever there was a band or organisation that needs a name change, its not Hunters & Collectors, its People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals because PETA right now are lying to their donors and to the general public.
